Can any photo become a portrait?
Most can. A clear, well-lit photo where you can see the faces works best. Old, faded or blurry photos are still worth sending: we'll check each one first and say plainly if the detail isn't there. The photo guide shows what helps.
Who can be in it?
Anyone you love, from as many photos as you need. People from different photos can be brought together in one portrait, and there's always room for the dog.

What will it look like?
Watercolour gives soft colour and light edges. Oil is richer and warmer. Sketch is clean lines with no background. Favourite place portraits come in watercolour or oil.
What sizes and finishes are there?
Sizes run from 8 × 10 to 24 × 36 in, and family, house and favourite place portraits are landscape. Choose a Matt Black, White or Red Oak frame, canvas, or an unframed museum-quality print.
Who makes it?
Every portrait is created by one of our artists, from your photos and the notes you send.
Do I pay before I see it?
Not if you choose $0 Upfront. Your card is charged when you approve your portrait, or automatically when your 7-day review window closes, and until then you can ask for changes as often as you like. You can also pay when you order.
